- Welcome to The 6th Indonesia – Malaysia International Conference.
Since 2007, academia and postgraduate students from Indonesia and Malaysia meet in an annual conference forum held simultaneously by University Malaya and a number of Indonesian universities. In this international conference, the focus of the discussion lies on the relations between Indonesia and Malaysia. Every year, various themes are chosen in a manner that makes possible diverse academic pieces related to these countries to be presented. The main purpose of this conference is to expand and deepen the understanding on the aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries as well as matters related to the upgrading of the relations between Indonesia and Malaysia through scientific meeting forum among postgraduate students.
- Conference description
For the 2012 meeting, the sixth conference will be held in Universitas Airlangga by involving the collaboration among three faculties of the participating parties: Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and Faculty of Humanities of Universitas Airlangga, and Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences of Universiti Malaya. The theme of this sixth conference is “Memperkuat Hubungan Strategik Serumpun”.
This theme is chosen with the consideration that after 50 years of neighborly relations between Indonesia and Malaysia, there are many ups and downs that the countries have undergone. The unavoidable matters concerning the two countries are the ever broadening, increasing, and deepening influences of globalisation as well as its positive and negative affects. The two countries will thus be carried away by the currents of change brought about by globalisation.
Strategy is the answer to the inevitability of globalisation and its affects. The capacity to survive in the era of globalisation is determined by strategic policies choice. In this context, it is necessary to discuss academic thoughts and studies directed toward the strengthening of strategic kin relations in the strong currents of globalisation. Based on this argument, diverse interdisciplinary topics, especially those of social nature, can be explored further in this conference. Critical thinking on strategic issues taking place in Indonesia and Malaysia as well as issues of the relations between these countries need to be reviewed as a cornerstone for many attempts to strengthen the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia which should be based upon strategic thinking for a positive future international relations.
- Call for papers
The core of the conference consists of rigorous peer-reviewed full-length papers reporting on original work. Submitted papers will be subject to careful evaluations based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. The series of accepted papers will be published on the conference proceedings.
Deadline of abstract is 31 May 2012 and deadline of full submission for paper is 29 June 2012 to 6thconferenceim@gmail.com
